Curriculum

The Center’s curriculum is theme based, open-ended and mainly generated by children’s interests and ideas. Our daily schedule offers child-directed, child-initiated experiences as well as teacher-directed, teacher-facilitated activities. The main component of our curriculum is based on following the child’s lead and interests. Our program provides opportunities for learning, exploration, creativity and self-expression based on the ideas and needs that children have. It allows children to “learn through play” in a safe and nurturing environment so they will grow into healthy, caring, and responsible persons.

Our program also provides plenty of opportunity for social interaction, which helps children develop appropriate social skills such as appreciating differences and respecting the personal feelings and property of others. By developing appropriate social skills, children also create a positive self-concept and learn to express positive and negative feelings in acceptable ways.

At Little Bunnies Learning Centre we strongly believe that we (children, early childhood educators, parents, and the environment) are all key components in a child’s development. Our home-based center gives our bunnies a sense of security while being away from their parents that enables them to explore the world with confidence and develop a healthy sense of self. Our values and philosophy are reflected in our curriculum: we continuously encourage children to grow and learn by involving them in activities and following their direction where possible. We are committed to treating each child with the love, care and respect expected of a caregiver, educator and co-learner.
